Dear Mother. Today is the banquet where the prince's bride will be chosen. I went out into the garden to get some air, and saw a woman I noticed in the hall talking to a serpent. I didn't know what to say, so I just left.
Dear Mother. A guest at the banquet died right in front of me. I put a hand to my mouth in shock, and the woman I saw in the garden comforted me by stroking my back. It was such a kind gesture. But for some reason...her hand felt like a writhing snake.
