"Snow, Justice of Two"

Introduction[]

Parrah: "Better to be condemned for being right than in the wrong."

Noya: Is that Snow White's line?

Parrah: You betcha. Pretty boring, if you ask me.

Noya: This time Snow stars in her own tale.

Parrah: The Library is overrun with Snow Whites everywhere! See, there's this weird kind of bug that's infecting countless Snow White tales.

Noya: Well, that doesn't explain much. Anyhoo, there's "spirits" involved.

Parrah: Cursed spirits and an enforcer of justice. Talk about the worst combo ever!

Noya: So what kind of story are we talking about, anyway?

Parrah: Oh ya know, it's all sorts of crazy in a pure and righteous way.

Noya: And so begins the tale of our spokesman of justice.

Parrah: It's show time! ♪

Verse 1[]

"Is this... a forest?"

Snow White stared into the fog before her.

A row of long black shadows in the form of tree trunks appeared beyond the mist.

A gust of wind carrying an odd smell blew in and gave rise to a cloud of dust.

"This smell... It's blood!"

Just then, the mist cleared, and the clouded shadows were unveiled. What they were were not trees as Snow had presumed.

In fact, lined before her were countless corpses tied to the stake.

Snow White: This world is cruel... Where am I? ...Whose world is this?

Past the fog near the never-ending forest of bodies, Snow White picked out an even larger shadow.

"That's..." She stopped.

It was a castle. However, it wasn't just any castle — at least not to Snow.

That abominable, yet gorgeous castle was where Snow White was once driven out from — a place she once desired to live for the rest of her life.

"That must mean... I've returned to my own world..."

It was a world with a damaged stepmother and a cursed mirror.

Snow White had been thrown into her very own fairytale.

Verse 2[]

Her legs felt heavy as she dragged her way towards the castle.

She knew she had to go there. No one but her stepmother could be responsible for the bodies she saw.

Sitting at the head of the throne, her stepmother — the queen — ruled with ruthless authority.

"I am the voice of justice."
"I am the symbol of righteousness."
"So it has to be me to stop my stepmother."

In the past, Snow White had traveled to many worlds and amended the tales they played out for the better.

She successfully carried out justice and corrected wrongs.

Why should her own world be an exception?

No. She had to make things right here as well.

She resolved herself to take whatever measures necessary.

Even if it meant killing her stepmother with her own two hands.

Snow White: I need to get to the castle and stop her. This world is wrong. Horribly wrong.

Snow White: Is that a dwarf?!

The once peaceful dwarves who had saved Snow's life were now carrying weapons.

They swung at her and snickered in a fashion that was otherwise unnatural to them.

Caught up in their madness, the group overpowered Snow White with their brute force.

Snow White: "You shouldn't be this strong!"

Just before they could overtake her, a cat suddenly appeared.

Cat: "Use this! This weapon will help!"

Verse 3[]

Snow White grasped the weapon offered to her, and with a single swing, sent the dwarves flying.

Snow White: "It's surging with power... What on earth IS this weapon?"

She turned her attention to the cat.

"I traverse all sorts of worlds in search of my partner and spirits," the cat spoke. "I sensed the presence of a spirit in this world, which brought me here..."

The cat began to explain in more detail about the negative effects the cursed spirit and its cursed power have on worlds.

Cat: I cannot fight. I can't win... Usually I have my partner beside me. But we got separated... But I'll lend you a special weapon. I'll help you, and you can help me! I think... we're both after the same thing.

Verse 4[]

The mysterious weapon Snow White received from the cat felt like it was meant just for her.

With this, I can fight.

And then, Snow White and the cat set out towards the castle.

As they grew closer to the castle, the number of staked corpses increased. Next to them, their loved ones mourned.

"Mama, why..."
"It was only a petty crime."
"They didn't deserve a death sentence."

The horrors described by the people infuriated Snow White. She quickened her pace.

I must put a stop to these atrocious acts.

Snow White: I won't stand for this... this savagery!

Cat: I bet the spirits are behind it. Everyone's gone crazy with power. The queen is probably affected by it as well...! What has happened to my world...?

Snow White: ......

Snow White: I can see the castle.

Verse 5[]

Burned at the stake. Dismemberment. Crucifixion. Poisoning.

Inside the castle, bodies of the dead littered the floor.

"What... What is this abomination?" Her voice trembling, Snow rushed through the castle halls.

"What you're doing is wrong! You think we'd let you get away with this?"

The soldiers blocking Snow White's path acted in the same manner as the dwarves.

They had lost their minds.

Their bravery meaningless.

Snow chopped them down and pressed ahead.

Verse 6[]

These soldiers with strength beyond mere humans. She sensed an ominous aura consuming the castle.

Cat: "What could possibly have encroached the land to this extreme?

It might be too late.

The cat had intent to answer Snow's question and decided against it. But Snow understood anyway.

I can't... No. I won't forgive this. All of this is wrong.

I have to hurry.

The queen must be stripped from her throne.

Snow White: Wake up! Come to your senses!

Cat: I sense something powerful up ahead. Snow, be careful!

Snow White: That's...

Snow White: ...!!! It's this country's king.

An eerie croak escaped the king's mouth and he collapsed defeated.

Snow White wiped the blood spattered on her body.

Snow White: "I..."

She looked down at the pool of blood belonging to the country's king.

The blood of her own father.

Snow White: "It doesn't matter... My actions are justified."

The cat looked up at her with concern. Snow White turned her sight to the path ahead.

Snow White: "...All that remains now is my stepmother. Let's go! To the Queen's chamber!"

Verse 7[]

The queen chuckled.

Lovely daughter of mine. Shall I bestow you with my judgement?

Snow White shook her head.

It is you who should be judged.

Snow White: What have you done to this world?! You murdered innocent people, and for what?! This isn't justice! This is a massacre!

Verse 8[]

As the beheaded queen lay motionless, doubt began to creep into Snow's thoughts.

Was all of this really the queen's doing?

"It's not over yet, Snow!" the cat called out. "I can still sense the presence of a spirit!"

We're not in the clear yet. Now until the mirror is destroyed.

Back in the corner of the room rested a mirror luminating a black light.

The next thing they knew, the room was jam-packed with monsters.

Snow White: There's no end to it! Did the mirror summon all these monsters?

Cat: Break the mirror! That should stop them!

Snow White: Got it!

Snow White: "So you're the cause of all this!"

Snow White swung her weapon at the mirror, however, as she did her reflection became distorted.

???: "No, but good guess! It was all ME."

Fingertips emerged from behind the glass. Next came a pair of arms and legs... until finally the entire body was revealed.

Snow White watched in horror as the figure inched its way out.

The figure that exited the mirror was none other than herself.

Fallen Snow White: "Everything I do... is right."

Verse 9[]

Fallen Snow White: "Justice is with me!"

The black, shadowy Snow White let out a scream that spurned countless monsters.

Protecting the cat now clinging to her back, Snow White lashed out at her enemies.

Snow White: "Is that supposed to be me?!"

Cat: "No! I mean yes, but it's not the real you!"

The cat desperately tried to explain that the Snow White facing them had been corrupted by the spirit's power...

But his words did not reach her.

Snow White: "Am I the one who manipulated my stepmother and laid waste to this world...?"

Snow White: Ah... AHHH!

Cat: Snow! Snow! You can't give up! That isn't you! It isn't Snow!

Snow White: I... I...!

Her heart shaken, Snow struck down with a finishing move that put an end to the corrupted Snow White.

The cursed mirror then smashed into pieces.

Snow White: "Is it... over?"

There would be no happy ending to this tale.

The bloodied castle was deserted and piled high with corpses.

The country was in disarray, and public sentiment had shifted away from royalty.

Could this world ever be rebuilt?

The cat nestled into Snow. Snow was at a loss for words.

Despite it all, she was still helplessly alone.

"Excuse me..."

A female servant appeared from the shadows. And then another one, and a few more.

Snow White's eyes widened in shock. There were survivors.

The few that managed to escape and hide asked if there was any way they could help.

Relieved, Snow White gave out instructions to begin the restoration process.

Good, now this country can stand on its own again.

After a deep breath, she gave an important announcement.

"Now that you've completed your duties, I can't let you go unpunished for standing by while that tragedy unfolded. You're all to be executed."

Verse 10[]

Bewildered, horrified, and increasingly indignant at the sudden turn of events, the people protested.

Snow White: "You have only yourselves to blame. For doing NOTHING."

Snow White was shocked at the words that left her mouth.

It's completely normal to cower in fear in that kind of situation.

Yet, for whatever reason, she saw it as her responsibility to see to their execution.

Yes. They must be executed.

"If I'm going to be killed... then I might as well take you with me!"

A soldier in front of the crowd rushed out towards Snow White.

Soldier: And here I thought you were a moral person!

Fallen Snow White: I am a moral person! How can you not see that? I'll have you executed on behalf of the country!

Snow White: Is it me? Am I the one who's crazy...? I... I don't want to kill...! Why can't I let go of my weapon?! No, at this rate I'll —

Fallen Snow White: Why... Why don't you get it? The crimes of bystanders and fugitives must be brought to justice... Justice is with me!

It was a blade that no amount of blood would dull its steel.

But before he could reach her, the weapon gravitated to Snow's hand.

Just then, a servant's head flew into the air, and the body of the soldier who brandished his sword snapped in two.

Snow White: "I... I am always right."

The neck of another twisted of its own accord. What a wondrous sensation.

Another body was flattened. That one too brings me waves of pleasure.

Because I am in the right.

Fallen Snow White: "Everything I do is right!"

"Snow... I'll be going now." From inside the bloodied room a cat called out. "Alice is waiting for me."

However, his words fell on deaf ears, for Snow was too far gone.

In time, Snow would ultimately become the Snow White from the mirror and again face judgment from another justice.

Cat: "I guess this world and Snow were both failures."

But since this world had eroded long before, it was doomed to fail from the start.

Without giving it a second thought, the cat took its leave.

Epilogue[]

Parrah: Sheesh...

Noya: What the heck was that?

Parrah: That really was the worst combo I've ever seen.

Noya: By the way...

Parrah: What now?

Noya: It's about that cat.

Parrah: The cat?

Noya: It's the same one who was with that Alice-killer Alice. Oh yeah...

Parrah: Your point?

Noya: During the 1st anniversary, didn't we say that other Alice would never appear again? We did?

Parrah: Yeah, but it wasn't Alice this time, so it's not like we lied or anything. So no worries. And I don't think the Snow we met today is going to show up again either. So no worries.

Noya: Still, I don't trust that feline...

Parrah: We don't know the full story, so it's not our problem. Welp, that was fun. Ta-ta for now! Buh-bye!
