Parrah: Wow, never heard you tell that one before.

Noya: It seemed appropriate for SINoALICE, I thought.

Parrah: Well, I suppose. At least, considering last year...

Noya: That certainly left a bad taste in your mouth, eh?

Parrah: But at least we both learned a valuable lesson. Christmas is a time for joy!

Noya: That's why, this year, Santa will come bringing hope and dreams! Delivering gifts with love and courage!

Parrah: It's true! Puppets never lie.

Noya: You know it's true, because puppets told you.

Parrah: ...

Noya: ......

Parrah: I see the way you're looking at us.

Noya: Have you so little trust in us?

Parrah: It would go better for everyone if you had a bit more trust...

Noya: Now, on the matter of Santa Claus...

Parrah: Oh, that. We'll just have her take care of it.

Noya: I see. She does seem like the right one for the job!

Parrah: I'm sure she'll make sure a wonderful Christmas

Verse 1[]

It's snowing. The world is blanketed in white...

Parrah: "It's a White Christmas!"

Noya: "Oh, how romantic!"

The two puppets exclaimed in delight, while next to them, Alice in her Santa suit heaved a heavy sigh.

Alice: "Since it's snowing, even more reason for Snow White to be Santa, instead of me. This doesn't suit me at all."

Parrah: "Snow was Santa last year, so..."

Noya: "If you hate it so much, just get it over with."

Parrah: "All you need to do is drop off those presents. It's barely work at all!"

Alice glared at the puppets sullenly, before taking the proffered list and reading the first name she saw.

Alice: "...I guess I start with Sleeping Beauty, then."

Parrah: Whoops, forgot to mention, but be careful of the nightmares, 'kay?

Noya: They really hate all this holiday joy.

Alice: Don't worry. It's no worse than usual.

As she dispatched the nightmares, Alice realized something.

Alice: "They're going after the presents?"

Parrah: "Everyone likes a good present, huh?"

Alice: "They don't even know what's inside them..."

Noya: "Not knowing what's inside just makes you want them more..."

Alice: "If that's how it is, I'll just deliver them faster."

Deciding she was done dealing with this headache, Alice headed towards Sleeping Beauty, fast asleep under the shade of the trees.

Alice: "Wake up. I brought you a present."

Sleeping Beauty: "Yaaaawn... Mhn... nh..."

Alice: "...Right. I'll just leave it here, then."

Parrah: "Oh, no you don't! The nightmares will get it, if you do!"

Noya: See what you get? Now that stray present is getting swarmed.

Alice: Stray present...

Parrah: You've got to make sure the recipient actually gets it, or it won't count.

Alice: ...Fine. Wake up, Sleeping Beauty.

Sleeping Beauty: Nnhhh? ...Ugh... Quiet! I'm trying to sleep! Waking me up from a nap, that's the death penalty!

Alice: Figures...

Sleeping Beauty: "...Alice? Why are you dressed like that?"

Sleeping Beauty blinked awake, smiling prettily and seemingly unaware of how she'd been fighting just moments before.

Alice: "They're forcing me to be Santa this year."

With that brusque explanation, Alice pushed the present into Sleeping Beauty's hands.

Sleeping Beauty took the little box, opening the lid to peek inside.

When she did, she smiled warmly.

Sleeping Beauty: "...Thank you. Actually, can I come with you?"

Alice: "Why?"

Sleeping Beauty: "Um, well... I mean, Christmas comes but once a year, right?"

Sleeping Beauty gave Alice in innocent smile.

Verse 3[]

The two of them took off into the snowy night, riding in a sleigh pulled by reindeer.

Sleeping Beauty: "Amazing! It's just like a dream!"

Alice: "For once, you're not actually sleeping."

Sleeping Beauty: "Then I guess it must be real, then. Even more amazing!"

The sleep-loving princess stood up in the sleigh, tilting her head skyward.

Parrah: "Hey, careful!"

Sleeping Beauty: "It's all right! Who's next on the list?"

Alice: "Next is... Princess Kaguya."

Sleeping Beauty: "Kaguya, huh...? She seems like the type to make a special request when getting a gift."

Noya: "Well, I won't say that ISN'T going to happen."

Alice wasn't sure what she should say to that, and only heaved a heavy sigh.

Kaguya: Oh, a present? I'm flattered, but I don't really want to get one unless it's from someone stronger than me.

Alice: So you won't take the present?

Kaguya: I won't. So... If you want me to take it, please, wound me!

Sleeping Beauty: You've got this, Alice! I'm just going to... rest my eyes...

Alice: ...I expected nothing, and yet.

Kaguya: "You're quite strong, aren't you, Alice...!"

Eager to get away from Princess Kaguya and her adoring stare, Alice shoved the present at her and backed away.

Princess Kaguya took the little gift, tucking it away without opening it.

Alice: "I'll be going, then."

Kaguya: "Wait. I'll go with you."

Alice: "...Why?"

Kaguya: "You invited Sleeping Beauty, but you don't want to invite me? Or perhaps you're not into..."

Sleeping Beauty: "Into what? What are you into?" Sleeping Beauty drowsily asked Alice.

Kaguya: "You mustn't tell such things to a girl like her. Don't worry. I can be discreet, so let me join you, alright?"

For the third time that night, Alice sighed heavily.

Verse 4[]

Despite the increase in passengers, the reindeer pulled the sleigh as if it weighed nothing.

Sleeping Beauty dozed in Princess Kaguya's lap, and she gently stroked her hair, turning to ask Alice,

"Who are we delivering a present to next?"

Alice: "Next is... Snow White."

Kaguya: "Oh. I wonder if... Do you think she'll get the same thing as we did?"

Alice: "I've got no idea what's inside. I just deliver them. Why? Is it bothering you?"

Kaguya: "Not at all... I just thought since I got all dressed up, maybe I should give of myself, too. I thought it might be fun."

"No one wants that," said Alice.

...But she said it very quietly indeed.

Kaguya: Merry Christmas! I'm your prese— ...

Snow White: Don't want any.

Sleeping Beauty: Wow, she didn't even hesitate. The kind of rejection that's worth waking up for!

Alice: ...I knew this would happen.

Kaguya: Heh, I do love a strong will…

Snow White: Stop getting the wrong idea. I... I'm telling you, I don't need any presents.

Alice: ...?

As Snow White toppled to her knees, Alice shoved the present into her hands.

Alice: I heard they made you be Santa once, too. You ought to understand my suffering, then."

Snow White: "...? I've never been Santa."

Alice: "What? Parrah and Noya said..."

Snow White: "Yeah, that was... Right. Thought so..."

As they spoke, Snow White peeked into her present and began to smile. It was a sad smile, but there was warmth to it, too.

Sleeping Beauty: "Yaaawn... Are you coming with us too, Snow?"

Sleeping Beauty peered over the edge of the sleigh, voice still soft with sleep.

Without bothering to ask Alice, Snow White silently climbed into the sleigh.

Verse 5[]

Snow fell around them.

The sort of snowfall that washes away all color.

Parrah: "It really is romantic, isn't it!"

As the puppets exclaimed in delight, Alice sat silently, lost in her thoughts.

Alice: "Why does everyone keep trying to reject their presents? Don't they know the nightmares will take them?"

Snow White: "Alice, do you know what's inside them?"

Kaguya: "I don't think she does. No one's told her."

Princess Kaguya answered in Alice's stead, her breath fogging white in the snow-filled air.

Snow White, for her part, sat staring at the puppets, as if her glare would clear the snow away.

Snow White: "That's not right!"

Snow White: You should tell Alice. Making her do this without knowing anything is…

Parrah: 'Not right'? Don't be so precious.

Noya: Why don't you explain, if it bothers you so much?

It's snowing. The world is hidden beneath a blanket of white…

Alice: "Tell me. What's in the presents?"

Snow White answered, breath freezing white as she spoke.

Snow White: "...They're marks. Brands. They're the sigh of the vanquished. Those who've fallen from the Library. The souls of the vanquished are annihilated. The presents you've been delivering are death notices."

Alice turned to stare at the others. Sleeping Beauty was dozing again, and Princess Kaguya nodded, a far-off look in her face.

Alice: "You all knew...?"

Sleeping Beauty: "Yeah... I figure if I'm gonna disappear, I don't wanna be alone. And..."

After all, said Sleeping Beauty's smile, Christmas comes but once a year.

Verse 7[]

Parrah: "Careful, you've let yourself get ambushed!"

Noya: "Get fighting, or you're not gonna have to worry about disappearing!"

The cacophonous laughter of the two puppets echoed in the snowy night.

Those desiring annihilation. Those hoping to annihilate others. Those hoping to avoid annihilation together.

All of these gathered together, rushing Alice and the others in one desperate charge.

As the pristine snow was stained red, the puppets let out a broken cackle.

Parrah: "That's that then. Now they're vanquished, too! Bye bye! Adios! Arrivederci! Merry Christmas, you losers!"

They laughed gleefully, right in Alice's face.

She frowned, swinging her weapon.

Sleeping Beauty: I'm just another vanquished, too... defeated by someone else... I suppose I might as well help annihilate them…

Alice: Annihilation's not the same as going to sleep. You get that, right?

Sleeping Beauty: It doesn't matter, anymore. I lost. And I'm so very tired…

Kaguya: She's right. It seems I've been vanquished, too, by someone stronger. If that's so, then…

Alice: I don't know what I'm supposed to do…

Verse 8[]

Parrah: "In the end, we just had too many lives lying around, you know?"

Noya: "Think of it like clearing the cache. If we didn't free up some space somehow, the Library'd just up and burst, or something!"

Parrah: "This is all for the best. For the sake of the other characters and stories."

Noya: "You'll never know how much it hurt us to choose! Waaah!"

As they fell into paroxysms of fake sobbing, Alice drew her weapon and pointed it their way.

Pretending to be shocked, the puppets dropped below the Sleigh.

Parrah: "Oh dear, you should probably look down!"

Noya: "All the failed souls of the vanquished are starting to gather together!"

It looked as if the Christmas Eve night had been adorned by a river of light.

Snow White: The way you do things makes me sick!

Snow White: Heresy...!

As she fought, Alice slowly began to understand.

The vanquished could not be saved.

And killing those who had already been defeated, would not bring her author back.

Then, why was she doing this?

Alice: "I'm just killing. This won't grant anyone's wish. There's no point to any of this..."

Parrah: "Not at all!"

Noya: "Don't be sad, Alice! It's all right!!"

Parrah: "After all... You're going to be annihilated, too!"

Alice: "What...?"

Alice opened her hand, surprised to find a tiny box had appeared in her grasp.

Verse 9[]

Alice: ...Oh. Now I remember. I was killed, in a dark corner of the Library. As the darkness closed around me, I remember seeing... someone...

Alice: ...I finally understand. For the me who is the Victor to remain, I, the Vanquished, must disappear. This was a journey towards annihilation, and I've been leading the way...

Sleeping Beauty: It's like a Christmas Parade! That's not so bad, is it?

Kaguya: Since this is the end, why don't we spend it as friends?

Snow White: You're right. I like that idea. Shall we, Alice?

Alice: Let's go.

Verse 10[]

It's snowing. A snow that drains all color from the world, leaving it white...

Drawing the sorrowful flock of the vanquished, Santa's sleigh raced through the night.

The patch of starry sky that Alice and the others raced for was rent apart, revealing an inky black hole in the night.

Kaguya: "I suppose I'll take my leave, then."

With that, Princess Kaguya flung herself out of the sleigh. In mere moments, she vanished into dust, swallowed by that impossible hole in the sky.

Sleeping Beauty: "I guess I should go too... It was fun!"

Sleeping Beauty smiled, just as innocent as before.

Snow White: "We've never really understood each other, but at least we took these last steps together."

Snow White gave Alice a warm smile.

Her friends were gone.

Alice: ...This is the end. I won't need to fight anymore. ...I had fun, too. Now, if I could only see everyone, again...

Alice awoke.

She could hear faint noises in the darkness around her.

She smelled blood.

Alice: "I thought... Wasn't I annihilated?"

In answer, came the unwelcome sound of the puppets' voices.

Parrah: "What do you wish for?"

Alice: "...To revive my author."

Noya: "To do that, I need..."

And she knew.

She knew that in order to make her wish come true, she would have to kill.

In other words...

She must kill the other Alice, too.

She stood.

In order to kill the Alice who had killed herself...
