Lies and Atonement is a NieR Replicant Collaboration Event in SINoALICE.
"Lies and Atonement" |

Intro Scene[]
Noya:
So did ya hear?
Parrah:
NieR Replicant got a version up.
Noya:
Congrats, I guess.
Parrah:
Don't you see?
This is a business opportunity!
We'd be idiots not to cash in on this!
Noya:
You're right!
Let's get a move on and connectin' the Library and NieR world.
Parrah:
Wait. We can't do this alone.
So I went ahead and asked some characters to give us a hand.
Noya:
Who?
Parrah:
The Three Little Pigs.
Noya:
Huh...?
Parrah:
Those three will do anything at the mention of food.
Noya:
That's not very reassuring...
Parrah:
It'll be fine. The more the merrier, as they say.
Let's get a move on!
Verse 1[]
Message from HQ.
The text will now play.
The disappearance of the original body’s soul
has been confirmed.
The primary system of the Gestalt Project, designed
for the revival of humanity, has collapsed.
This case is thought to be due to supervisory
incompatibility by the androids Devola and Popola.
As a result, all models of the Devola and Popola series
will be disposed of as of midnight today.
End.
※
Devola:
I see. So the project failed…
Popola:
Our role has come to an end.
Devola:
…So it seems.
If the target race is to disappear,
That leaves no reason left for us to exist.
※
My name is Popola.
And I am Devola.
Twin droids entrusted with the execution of Project Gestalt
and management of souls and vessels.
For 1,000 years we held our role
as supervisors of the project.
That was the meaning of our existence.
But now with the disappearance of the original Gestalt
and the inevitable extinction of humanity,
we too will soon come to the same end.
Only 12 hours remain until midnight.
Verse 1 - Alternate[]
“I found a pen and paper at an abandoned home.
A blank piece of paper has considerable value.
So I decided to write a diary with it.
Maybe it’ll be read by someone one day.”
Excerpt from the beginning of Emil’s Diary
※
“I fell into the sea today. I didn’t mean to.
It took me three full days to reach land.
I was afraid I was going to drown
It’s a miracle this diary is still safe.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 2[]
Parrah and Noya, emerging onto the world
of Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, exchange glances.
They couldn’t help but notice the plains stretching
out onto luscious nature and the beautiful hairs
on the wild boars rushing out of sight.
“What’s the FPS here? My joints never
moved this smooth on a phone.”
“I can’t wait to see our main character in these graphics!”
“Just think of all the profit he’s
gonna make us when we snag him!”
“What’s his name anyway?”
“Nier, I guess. You can rename ‘em in-game though.
Anyway, let’s just go with Hero!”
※
Parrah:
Ahh there’s a weird and dark… thing approaching.
Piggies:
A new breed of animal?
I wonder what it tastes like?
Only one way to find out…
Bleh!
Noya:
Must be pretty bad if it’s got them pukin’.
※
Grey clouds hung in the blue sky.
Just as the peaceful plains grew dark,
more dark creatures appeared out of nowhere.
“Eek! There’s so many of them!”
“We can’t eat those nasty things…”
“We’re talkin’ big trouble if they
surround us.”
“Let’s get the heck outta here!”
“And go where?”
The party rushed left and right
lost in there new environment.
“Over here!”
The voice that called out to them came
from two women with reddish, chestnut hair.
A pair of twins.
Verse 2 - Alternate[]
“The desert’s always so windy.
I hate it when the sand gets in my eyes.
And I’m always getting lost.
It never gets easier.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“I got sucked up by a tornado.
My head was still spinning when I got out.
I’m surprised I even found my way out of the
desert. I wonder how many days have passed…”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 3[]
"What were you doing out there?"
"We're here to kidnap people!"
The puppets slapped the clueless pigs in the face.
"Owwie!"
"No. We're on a food tour. A search for the gourmet."
"Huh? But you said..."
"A food tour."
Devola and Popola exchanged looks.
"Now what?"
"...We don't have much time left.
We should spend our last hours how we want."
"If you say so."
"All right, then we'll take you to your destination.
It's easy to get lost around these parts."
"Thanks, super appreciated."
※
Devola:
Oh, we’ve got shades.
Popola:
Everyone be careful.
Piggies:
Gotcha!
Parrah:
…I’ve seen these two at the Library.
Their names are Devola and Popola.
They aren’t like the usual characters we run into.
Noya:
Now that you mention it, isn’t their attack style kinda weird?
Parrah:
Are they copying one another?
Noya:
Maybe they’re doppelgangers.
※
While leading Parrah, Noya, and the pigs on their way,
a thought suddenly dawned upon the twins.
"You're triplets."
"Yes, we are."
"So does that make you puppets...twins?"
"Keheheh! You can be the judge of that."
Devola and Popola grinned as the marionettes snickered at them.
"Our final activity is with triplets and twins.
I guess you can call this fate."
"Fate, huh? Although we've been around for over 1,000 years,
that sounds very...human of us."
Verse 3 - Alternate[]
“There was this weird rustling noise in my head.
I couldn’t figure out what it was.
But then, a scorpion slithered out!
I wonder how it got inside? I didn’t even notice.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“A tree caught on fire from lightning.
It’s been a long time since I last saw fire.
I remember it used to feel so warm.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 4[]
The first form of food the group discovered was sheep.
"Not only are the graphics beautiful,
but the taste is on point, too!"
"Presentation is important after all."
"Uh, do you girls always eat your chow raw?"
"Devola and Popola, is there anything yummier than
sheep? What's your favorite?"
"Do twins have the same tastes?"
The trio managed to squeeze in their questions as
they quickly devoured the sheep to the bone.
"No favorite in particular."
"Really? Then what do you like to do?"
"Nothing really."
"Hm... You mean you don't desire anything?"
※
Popola:
Desire…
Devola:
Desire, huh?
I’ve never thought about it before.
Popola:
It’s ironic to care about that now,
Now that our end is approaching…
※
The Three Little Pigs innocently continued,
ignorant of Devola and Popola ruminating.
"You know, you might find something
you like if you eat a bunch of stuff."
"The same with traveling. You might even
discover a new favorite place."
"...You think so?"
The puppets smirked, recognizing the longing
inside the twins' hearts.
They immediately took advantage of this, devising
a scheme that would have the twins guide them to
the whereabouts of the protagonist they sought.
"Great! I wanna check out that Junk Heap for starters."
"Sure thing."
Verse 4 - Alternate[]
“I lost my old pen. It wasn’t easy to find a new one,
but I did!
Now I can write again. I’ll try not to lose this one.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“The town I passed was completely deserted.
I wonder where everyone went? And that town too…
How long has it been since they’re all gone?”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 5[]
The group reached the summit of the Junk Heap
and had a walk around.
To Parrah and Noya's disappointment, there wasn't a single
trace of a human existence, let alone their hero.
The Three Little Pigs, on the other hand, were saddened
at the lack of available food.
"Well, it was worth a try. Ya think if we gathered parts here,
Dorothy could build us a robot restaurant?"
"But we're hungry NOW!"
In their rampage, the pigs attacked some sort of lever...
Activating what seemed to be a crane.
Its large arm hovered above the puppets before grabbing
and carrying them away like a prize in a crane game.
※
???:
Recycling initiated.
Parrah:
Recycling? What do you think that means?
???:
Analyzing materials…
Analyzing complete. Scrap materials confirmed.
Noya:
UWAAAAGH!!!
The lever, pull the lever!
Piggies:
Liver? I want liver!
We can grill it and have a BBQ!
Noya:
Nobody said liver!
Parrah:
Somebody HEEEELP!!!
※
Parrah and Noya dangled in the air shrieking,
locked in the crane's claws while the three sows below
fantasized about grilled liver.
Devola and Popola, the only ones cool and collected
during the entire ordeal, swiftly stepped in and destroyed
the crane arm before the puppets met the scrap pile.
"Are you all right?"
"Uhg. That thing almost had us."
"I've had enough of this place."
"Yeah, I don't think our hero...
Uh, I mean, there's no tasty food here, so..."
"Let's check out the port town."
"Sure."
Verse 5 - Alternate[]
“It started raining all of a sudden, so I took
shelter in the forest.
My natural enemy lives in these parts though,
so I hope I don’t run into it.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“Why did they have to show up?!
Even though I prayed for them not to!
DUMB BOARS!!!
Why are they always chasing after me?
It’s frightening!”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 6[]
Stretching out from the port town was a calm sea.
"The scent of the tide... Definitely something yummy's here."
"I just hope we're not fooled like last time."
"In that case, why don't you try your hand at fishing?"
"You'll find all sorts of fish in these waters."
The Three Little Pigs' eyes lit up at the twins' commentary.
At the shore, the puppets discovered a shipwreck.
"With every shipwreck is a pirate's hidden treasure!"
"Let's snag those riches!"
However, their hopes turned grim upon the sight of countless
limbs torn from their sockets.
※
Noya:
ACK! They’re dead!!!
???:
(gnaw gnaw…)
Parrah:
Over there! It’s a monster!
Devola:
…Goodness
Popola:
I suggest thinking a bit more before you act.
※
Parrah and Noya carefully examined the dimly
lit ship, looking for any clues of hidden treasure.
But no matter how many corners they turned,
there wasn't a single coin.
"Hey, I'm hungry..."
"Shut it and just keep lookin'!"
"But treasure won't fill you up."
Devola and Popola giggled at the grumbling
protests of the pigs' tummies.
"Have you had enough of your food tour?"
"If the sheep was enough for you,
I suppose our service isn't of need anymore."
Just as the puppets remembered their original purpose,
the ship made a loud crunch and shook violently.
Verse 6 - Alternate[]
“I found this really deep hole today.
It was like a black hole. So deep you couldn’t
see the bottom.
I was this close to going down it myself. But I didn’t.
Maybe if I wasn’t alone.
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“Sometimes I confuse the wind for someone talking
When that happens, I keep still.
I’d listen to it forever if I could.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 7[]
"The heck was that?!"
The force was so great it prompted
the party rush onto the deck.
There, surrounding them was a hoard of shades.
"EEEK! Gross!!!"
"This is supposed to be a relaxing gourmet tour!
What the heck do they want from us?!"
"I hate those. They taste bad..."
Two mourning puppets and a trio of scowling hogs.
Devola and Popola stepped forward in defense.
"Are these all wild bodies?"
"This is the fate of a failed project..."
※
Devola:
Ngh...! This is...
Popola:
The loss of its ego has caused it to go berserk.
Devola:
Project Gestalt...
This is what we were trying to protect.
Popola:
...
※
"Food sure sounds great about now..."
"Guess we're all runnin' on empty."
"Where can we get some grub?"
Turning around, they noticed a number
of fish just under the ocean's waters.
"Oh yeah! We we're goin' fishin'!"
"Choose yer bait and press the X button!"
"Who are you talking to?"
"Oh! Let's try to catch that famous item! Mackerel!"
"Mackerel? I've never heard of that fish before."
"You haven't?!"
In the meantime, a Giant Rhizodont
pulled on their lure.
"UWOAH! I think we got a big one!!!"
"Is this even eatable?!"
Verse 7 - Alternate[]
“You won’t believe where I am right now.
I’m at the top of a cliff and the view’s gorgeous!
And you can’t ask for better weather than this.
I think I’ll relax here for the day.”
Excerpt from Emil Diary
※
“My day of relaxation was ruined by a boar.
I didn’t notice it approach me and was pushed
right off the cliff.
My head went for a real spin…
I wasn’t sure I’ve ever see straight again.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 8[]
The party was surprised at how delicious
the Rhizodont turned out to be.
The Three Little Pigs were particularly pleased.
"That was greeeat♪"
"Heh? Wh-Who said that?"
Devola and Popola, who had been drinking,
turned away embarrassed of their
sudden change of state.
And so time passed...
While on a walk to sober herself up,
Devola overheard a private conversation.
"Our hero's not here. I think this is some post-apocalyptic world."
"This is what debug is for. All we gotta do is get to the menu."
"Let's snag Kainé while we're at it too."
※
Devola:
Hey. What are you two talking about?
Noya:
Oops. Show's over.
Devola:
Were you... using us?
Parrah:
You're kiddin', right?
You were happy to show us around.
Noya:
But what a waste of time that was!
Parrah:
What's the point of this world without our hero?
It deserves to be scrapped.
Noya:
And you call yourself supervisors.
Devola:
...How DARE you!!!
※
The snickers following the puppets' criticism
added fuel to the already enraged Devola.
"Kehehe! Not bad."
"You're not the only one with a few
tricks up their sleeves."
Parrah and Noya's round sockets gave off an ominous glow.
"...Ngh! What is一?!"
"We planted a record of your sins in your mind."
"Now you can enjoy wallowing in negativity instead."
Not a moment later, Devola lost her sight of color.

The sky back then, and the sky I see now…
They’re both very beautiful.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“I’m running out of paper.
Maybe only a few days worth left.

Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
Verse 9[]
Her entire field of vision was painted white.
"Where am I?
Just as she muttered those words, a storm of
jeers and insults overcame her from all directions.
She covered her ears, trying to block out
the resentment that now berated her
(There has to be a way out of here.)
She rushed forward through the blank space,
the angry shouts following her.
Then, she saw the back of a familiar figure.
"Popola! Did those puppets get to you too?!"
Popola turned around, her expression twisted into a scowl.
Fuck off, failure.
※
Devola:
...Popola?
Popola:
Devola died, leaving me behind...
Devola:
...Oh...
Popula:
I can't live in this world anymore...
Devola:
No...!
Popula:
Those past 1,000 years were all for nothing!
Devola:
...No... No more!!!
※
Devola screamed, and Popola and the
whirlpool of bitter voices dissapeared.
As she stood lost in a daze,
Parrah and Noya appeared before her.
"Got any regrets in this world?"
"We'll take you to the Library."
"There, your deepest desires will be granted."
"This a'way."
Devola's eyes flickered with hesitation.
Their buttered-up wordsfound a way to numb her pain,
however...
"Devola. Those memories aren't real."
A voice spoke out to her.
A voice from the past.
And in an instant, all her doubts had vanished.
Verse 9 - Alternate[]
“I had a dream. It was about the old days.
A dream with all of my dear friends.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“There’s something I want to protect.
I’m the only one who can. I’m sure of it.
It’s the very reason I’m still alive.”
Excerpt from Emil Diary
Verse 10[]
"Devola, are you okay?"
"...Sorry, It's my fault."
A gentle voice shook Devola awake to her senses.
"Ah, man. We were so close, too."
"You... I'll make you regret
messing with the Popola inside me."
"Here will be your deathbed."
Faced with the wrath of the twin androids,
the puppets turned and whispered to the
three little pigs.
"Change of plans. We'll use force and kidnap these two."
"Win and you'll earn somethin' sweet."
"Really? Then what are we waiting for?!"
Energized by the promise of food, the three sisters moved in unison.
※
Piggies:
That fish was yummy, but nothing beats desert!
I wanna eat already!
Devola:
We can't get through to them.
Popola:
You'd think twins and triplets would hit it off, too.
It's a shame.
Devola:
But we're still the supervisors of this world.
That is our role. Regardless of what's left.
And it's our duty to carry out that role to the very end.
※
The motionless bodies of the Library visitors
laid sprawled across the earth dead.
On the other end. Devola and Popola
also sustained serious injuries
Devola's vocal cord was damaged, and
lost her ability to speak.
Popola's internal parts protruded from her body.
"I just remembered what I wanted to do..."
Popola crawled over to her fallen sister's side.
"Your song...
I want to... sing it with you..."
Just as their stretched out hands
found the other, their eyelids fell.
The hands of the clock had struck midnight.
Verse 10 - Alternate[]
“I hope… they’re out there watching me somewhere.
I hope they’re cheering me on.”
Excerpt from Emil’s Diary
※
“I want to see him.”
Excerpt from the last page of Emil’s Diary
Ending Scene[]
Green Piggie:
Huh? What is this place?
Red Piggie:
Parrah and Noya aren't here.
Blue Piggie:
Now where did they go?
Green Piggie:
Are we still getting dessert?
Red Piggie:
I don't remember winning. Do you?
Blue Piggie:
I'm too hungry to think.
Green Piggie:
I wanna eat.
Red Piggie:
Maybe we should head back.
Blue Piggie:
Agreed. Let's go home.
Green Piggie:
Next stop on our gourmet tour, the Library.
Red Piggie:
Hooray!
