"A Faraway Vow"

Intro Scene[]

Parrah:
Oh? I think we've got a problem.
Something weird is happening within the story.
Yeah, and a bunch of weird visitors got summoned there.

Noya:
This might be some fun though.
How rude. They seem to have enough on their plate.

Parrah:
Hm... I see. "Return by Death".
The guy turns back time every time he's killed.

Noya:
It resets he relationships around him, too.
Even though he still remembers them all.

Parrah:
I like it.....Yeah, really good.

Noya:
This sounds like the perfect chance for a tale of terror.

Parrah:
Well, we can't just leave them there anyway.
Let's throw in a character or two.

Noya:
You're just gonna have them solve the problem
by killing him?

Parrah:
Yep. But not just that...
We'll have time loop on our guest.

Noya:
Sounds great!
...Oh.

Parrah:
What's up?

Noya:
I got so excited...
My hand's acting all funny.

Parrah:
Ah! The crucial time line is....

Part 1[]

Verse 1[]

"Sure. It's a date then, Subaru."

Silver hair down to her hips. Piercing,
intelligent blue eyes.

The beautiful and young half-elf girl
smiled softly, agreeing to the young man's offer.
That manSubaru Natsuki,
had awoken in a dark alleyway.

"...Wh-Where am I?"

The alleyway he had awoken in
was far from the dreamy date he was
promised.

One possibility came into Subaru's mind.

"If I'm waking up in a strange place
again... Wait, don't tell me I...
Did I die again?"

Subaru's face turned pale. A low growl
could be heard as the darkness grew behind him.

Subaru:
A mabeast?!
What's it doing in the city?!
What the heck's going on here?!

"I managed to escape, but...
if it was through Return by
Death,
when did I die? And where am I now?"

Wherever he was now, he didn't
recognize the place.

If Return by Death did
occur, he should
be somewhere back in the past.

But that didn't seem to be the case this
time.

Rather, he must have been summoned to
another world.

"Hold up. How did I
end up in another world when
I've already been summoned to another
world once?

What am I, some migratory bird?!"

As he grumbled, he looked up to a sign on
the wall.

However, the language written on it
was nothing like that from his previous
world.

Verse 1 - Alternate[]

"Am I dreaming? No...
This is different from Clairvoyance.
Barasu, when did you leave the room?"

"Why do I keep hearing "summoned to another world?
I don't understand. But something tells me it had
to with Barasu. I'll keeo an eye on things for now."

Verse 2[]

Subaru was just your average high
schooler from an ordinary family.

While a bit of a recluse,
since being summoned away
he's been giving his best.

It was all thanks to the people
he met in the new world.

First there's the silver-haired girl
Emilia
who reached out to Subaru.

Then the twin maids
who helped him regardless of their
doubts, Ram and Rem--
"...That girl looks exactly like Rem."

Across the street, Subaru saw a shadow
of a girl with blue hair,
similar to Rem's in a predicament with a thug.

Instantly he dashed towards them.

Subaru:
Hold up!
My bad for hitting on you, okay?

Thug:
Keh!
You lookin' for payments too, huh?

Subaru:
Payment? The heck you on about?
I'm just your average...
Good o' shut-in Samaritan!

"HAHA! Take that!
I won! The demon won!"

"A demon?"

The girl watched Subaru curiously
as he proclaimed victory over his
opponent.

She was much younger than the maid he
knew.

But her blue hair overwhelmed him with
a sense of déjà vu.

"Um, as thanks for saving you,
can you tell me where this place is?"

"There you are! What the hell ya doin'
here?!"

Subaru turned around, startled by an
angry voice. There standing was
a grouchy slave dealer.

"Ungrateful dog! You better think
twice before running away from me again!"

He smacked his palm across the girl's cheek.

"Stop! What's wrong with you hitting a girl?!
That's considered abuse!"

"Abuse? The hell that means anything to me.
How I treat my merchandise is my business!"

"Slave?"

On the ground, the blue-hair girl
covered her stung cheek. Her
peach-colored lips trembled.

"...You called her merchandise. Fine.

Then I'll buy her from you. How's that?"

"Oh? We'll see. How much you got?"

"I have..."

Subaru fidgeted through his pockets.
Then he made a loud declaration.

"I'm dirt poor!"

Verse 2 - Alternate[]

"This may just be a dream, but it's
kinda funny to watch Barasu struggling
in this new world.

But wait...
That girl across the street
looks just like Rem."

"That's terrible. How dare they treat
someone who looks like Rem a slave.
You have to do something, Barasu!

What? No Money?
Leave it to you to be penniless at
a time like this. You're useless."

Verse 3[]

"In any case, I need to make money
somehow. There's no hope in saving her otherwise."

Subaru had found himself wandering around the city
after being chased away by the slave owner.

"This is like my first time in Lugunica all over again.
No money, I can't read a darn thing. What is different though..."

Was the absence of the silver
-haired girl.

The one who had saved Subaru.

"There it is! Silver hair!"

Out of the corner of his eye, Subaru caught a glimpse
of dazzling silver hair and he dashed off towards it.

"Ow! You bumped into me!"

"Now pay up for damages!"

"Not money for this, too!"

Subaru:
Outta my way!
I need to follow her!
Silver hair, dressed in pure white.
That has to be...!

Verse 3 - Alternate[]

"That Barasu is always broke.
It's his own fault he got mixed
up with thugs.

But I'm more concerned about that
silver-haired girl. Could she be..."

Verse 4[]

"Wait! I'm coming Emilia!"
Out of breath, Subaru finally caught up
with the girl.

Placing his hand on her shoulder, she
turned around.

However, the cold, gray pupils that met
his were not the purple that he had expected.

"Oh...Um, sorry. I mistook you for someone else."
His shoulders slumped, disappointed.

"Haha...I must be fated to meet
silver-haired heroines. Beautiful lady,
may I ask your name?"

Unable to ignore the Emilia look-alike,
he tried to make a move on her, however...

"I see. So it's you."

What came next was an attack intended
to kill.

Subaru:
W-Wait!
You gotta hear me out!
I should have watched my words! I'm sorry!
See, you resemble this friend of mine and...

Snow White:
...

Subaru:
Oh, c'mon!
Can't you just listen to me for a sec?!

The quick sound of a blade pierced the air.
Seconds later, Subaru fell to the ground.

"What...?"

Subaru looked up and saw his legs...
no, his lower torso protruding.

"Ah... UGAAAAWAAAAAAAA!!!"

Blood gushed out like a water fountain from
his two halves.

"Hgh... Ahg...!"

There was no saving him. Waiting for
the darkness to take over, just then...

"...It wasn't you, after all. My apologies."

The girl's slightly remorseful voice
echoed in the alleyway.

Subaru took his last breath.

Verse 4 - Alternate[]

"Thank goodness. That girl wasn't
Emilia after all. Roswall wouldn't
be pleased if he got her involved.

Now then, girl of silver hair, how
will you show yourself to Barusu?"

...Okay, Barusu does need work on his
manners, but killing him is going too far.

How could you live the rest of your life
knowing you killed an innocent man?
Sounds like a bad dream."

Part 2[]

Verse 1[]

"Oh? We'll see. How much you got?"

Subaru had awoken again, this time to
the grim expression of the slave earlier.

"Here we go again!"

Subaru concluded that after
being killed by the silver-haired girl,
Return by Death brought
him back to the past.

"Okay. That pretty lady was dangerous.
Gotta keep far away from her."

As he said that, once again silver hair
fluttered across the alleyway. But just
as he was about to make a break for it...

"Let's see how tough you are now, punk.
Screw this guy up, Boss!"

The thug Subaru had beaten up earlier
had returned with backup.

Subaru:
Boss? You're the one who asked me to pay for your wounds!

Boss:
Huh? I don't know what you're talking about!

Subaru:
Of course you wouldn't.
Only I remember.
And if I'm meeting you again like this
I doubt there's a way to avoid you.

Thug:
Quit babbling!

"M-mess with me and you're dead men!
The organization will have your head!"

"Wait, this guy's a member of
the mob?"

"Hey, I didn't do nothin'! I had no idea!"

"Then what about the girl?!"

"Who cares! I'm outta here!"

The girl, abandoned by the two thugs,
looked up at Subaru anxiously.

"So um, yeah. You're safe now.
Best ending I guess.

Oh hey! While we're at it, let's see if we
can swindle any money off those jerks."

A deceitful scheme, but he needed money
from this world.

Turning each of their pockets inside out,
Subaru wiped the thugs clean of their cash.

Verse 1 - Alternate[]

"How they're treating Rem's look-alike
is unacceptable.

But why? Why does it feel like I've seen
this dream before?

No. Surely it's just my imagination."

"Barasu is predictable.
Only he would be so despicable as to
chisel money from others.

But he managed to pull it off.
Now he can save the imprisoned Rem
look-alike."

Verse 2[]

"Now that the money problem is out of
the way, gotta find somewhere to stay.

Somewhere hidden from that
silver-haired lady and the mob..."

"E-Excuse me...!"
The blue-haired girl managed to speak.

"This makes you mymaster, right?
I'm at your will..."

"You should be careful how you word that.
Something bad might really happen, you know?"

Smiling grimly, Subaru pat the girl's head.
Her face turned pale and her body stiff.

Fearing she would be hit again.

Sympathizing with her, he said,
"Life hasn't been very fair to you, huh?"

In that moment, a siren wailed throughout the city.

With it could be heard the roar of a
mabeast.

Subaru:
The heck's with this city?!
Any worse luck and we would have been goners...

Then another alarm. Not long after, the city folk
came out of hiding and resumed their business.

It seemed to be a signal that the
mabeast had been eradicated.

"That's our vigilante!"

"I don't fear any monster thanks to those heroes!"

Overhearing the old lady's praise, Subaru asked,
"Um, excuse me. What's a vigilante?"

"Oh my, a traveler? You're in good hands here, dear.
Things can get a bit noisy, but the vigilante has
our backs. With a female leader to boot."

"Neat. A woman in power."

"Indeed. A lovely lady with silver
hair."

The memory of their meeting replayed in
Subaru's head.

Silver hair, cold gray eyes. And a severed torso.

Verse 2 - Alternate[]

"That Rem look-alike grew up in
such a terrible environment.

If only there was something I could do...
Please, Barusu. You must keep her safe."

"There's a vigilante corp in this city to
protect it citizens from demon beasts.

And their leader is a silver-haired girl...
I think I saw a dream like this. In it,
Barusu was killed by a beautiful girl
with silver hair.

Surely, it's just my imagination."

Verse 3[]

After finding somewhere to settle down,
Subaru and the girl had dinner together.

"Can't fight a war on an empty stomach."

Putting use the culinary skills he learned
from the twin maids Ram and Rem, Subaru served
a plate of steamed sweet potatoes to the girl.

Watching her deliciously gobble up her
meal, Subaru's mind drifted.

"There's no doubt that vigilante leader is the girl
who killed me. If I get ratted out by the folks here
she'll be back for my head. I gotta get out of this place."

He noticed the girl had finished her plate.

"There's plenty more. Eat up."

Just as I was about to place another potato on her plate,
the door to our room was kicked

open.

Thug:
Your odd clothes give you away.

Thug:
Boss ordered to seize you at all costs!

Rem:
Master!

Subaru:
Dammit! Keep your hands off her!

Then a kick to my stomach.

The blow caused an unpleasant sensation and forced
the potatoes I had just eaten back up my throat.

"Yo! Quit it before ya murder him."

"He's the one who started it!"

Thrown into a cell, Subaru wassubjugated
to the thugs' merciless brutality.

Sensation in his body began to fade, a
sign of his awaited death.

"The...girl... Where's ... the girl?"

"Shut up!"

He crushed my face with his foot, blocking my
airways with my own vomit. Then, just as
everything turned to black--

"What are you men doing?!"

Subaru recognized the voice. It belonged to
the silver-haired girl.

Verse 3 - Alternate[]

"Anyway, I'm glad he found a place to
stay with the girl.

She seems to like sweet potatoes.

Well, it is my specialty.
But... All this seems too good to last..."

"I can't believe those thugs tried to
corner Barusu.

Dream or not, that's just terrible.
But that girl at the end...

Don't I know her?"

Part 3[]

Verse 1[]

"Oh? We'll see. How much you got?"
Oblivious to the scene before him,

Subaru recalled the second time he died.
He knew that voice.

There was absolutely no mistaking it.
It was her, the one with the silver hair.

"Let's see how tough you are now, punk."

For the second time, Subaru was confronted
by the two thugs from before.

He apologetically collapsed to his knees.

"I'm sorry! I was just trying to show off
so the vigilante would recruit me!
I didn't mean to pick a fight! I swear!
It won't happen again, so please forgive me!"

Subaru's frantic apology
stopped them in their tracks.

"Heh, alrighty... Let's see what ya got, kiddo."

Subaru:
I'd like to meet your leader if you don't mind.
I bet I know her.

Boss:
Hmph! As if I'd trust you.
But I like your tactics.
But first, an interview with me!

With the money earned from the vigilante,
Subaru was determined to buy the
blue-haired girl her freedom.

But if it weren't for that, the slave
dealer might not have agreed.

It proved the influence the vigilante had
on the people.

"I will definitely be back for you. Hang
in there."

Smiling softly as he left, he made his way
to the vigilante's station with the thugs.

"...That's a really big wall around us."

Walking down the street in broad
daylight, only now had Subaru noted
the strange wall
encircling the entire city.

"That? Once you're in, you're in for life."

The thugs laughed at their joke,
but it felt hollow.

Verse 1 - Alternate[]

"I've had enough of this dream.
That Rem look-alike doesn't deserve
this kind of cruelty.

Why am I being shown this dream?"

"An interview with the vigilante?
...He sure talked his way into that one.

In any case, anything that will save the
Rem look-alike, please! We need the money."

Verse 2[]

Upon arriving at their destination, they
were greeted not by the one who had killed
Subaru, but by a beautiful half-elf girl with
the same silver hair. Only she had purple eyes.

"Emilia?!"

"Subaru?! What are you doing here?!"

"That's what I should be asking you!
But if you're here, then we're in
Lugunica, right?"

"No. We're not. I don't know this place,
either. I just woke up here one day...
It's been three months already."

"You were summoned here, too?"

Just then, the alarm blared
through the city.

"Leader! It's a nightmare!"

Subaru:
I knew their leader had to be you, Mili.

Emilia:
Yeah. It just sort of happened after saving these people...

Subaru:
Speaking of which, where's Puck?
You guys are always together.

Emilia:
...He's not here.
And...
I can't summon spirits like Puck either.

Subaru:
I see...
That's a bit disheartening.

"Thank you. Your help is appreciated."

"Aaah, that angelic smile...E.M.A!
(Emilia Major Angel)"

"Glad to see you're still the same."

Emilia's smile sent Subaru straight
to Cloud 9.

He had convinced himself his purpose
here was to rescue her from this place.

"Your silver hair is the best of them both."

"Both? You saw someone else with silver hair?"

"Yeah. But she was no elf. Do you know
a pretty girl with silver hair and grey eyes?"

"I can't say I do..."

'...It wasn't you, after all.'

Recalling the beauty's final words from
his first death made Subaru uneasy.

Verse 2 - Alternate[]

"Emilia is the head of the vigilante?
I don't understand.

How did she get wrapped up in this?
And for three months no less?"

"That girl Barusu mentioned...
I just know I've seen her somewhere before.

But I think there was some conflict
between them. When was it again...?"

Verse 3[]

"Thank you, Lady Emilia."

"The city is safe thanks to you."

Emilia stepped out to a crowd of people
thanking her for her bravery.

"...Well, this sure ain't Lugunica."

"Yes. The citizens here don't care
that I'm a half-elf."

Emilia looked on endearingly. How accepting she felt
in their presence, regardless of her origins.

"After seeing this, I guess you're going to need
a little more convincing to go back home, huh?"

"Sorry, Subaru. Home is important, too, but...
I want to help these people as well."

Emilia smiled as the alarms blared out again.

"Yeah, I knew you would say that."

Subaru:
There's just no end to it!

Emilia:
It's been like this over a month now.
Their numbers have increased as well.
They've begun taking coordinated action.
I needed more men for the vigilante,
and some of them began to take it to their head.

Subaru:
Yeah...I can imagine it.

After killing her nightmare,
Emilia suddenly murmured...

"Hey, Subaru. I've been wondering...
Do you think there could be others
from our world here?"

Since Subaru and Emilia had each arrived to
this world at different
times,

it wouldn't be strange for others
to have been summoned as well.

"It couldn't be..."

The blue-haired girl flashed in Subaru's mind.
While she was certainly almost identical,
their age difference concerned him.

After retelling his events to Emilia, he ran off
with his earned cash to make good of his promise.

Verse 3 - Alternate[]

"These people don't seem to fear half-elves.
Just look at how much they adore Emilia.

It's amazing how different other worlds can be."

"What if others besides Barusu and
Emilia were summoned here?

Then that poor girl may also be Rem.
But, that still doesn't explain what
happened to her memories."

Verse 4[]

"Well, I'll be damned. What a vigilante
would want with such a useless
being is beyond me. But pleasure doin'
business with ya."

The greedy slave owner bid the pair
farewell as they took their leave.

Well aware she was sold away, the girl followed
silently behind Subaru, her head towards
the ground.

...She's literally Rem's double.

Maybe her age regressed when she was
summoned here.

And her memories, too. Or...

"I should see Mili first."

Subaru extended his hand to the girl,
but her hands were clenched tightly into
fists.

Just then sounded the
roar of a nightmare.

Subaru:
It's you again! Just die already!
Dammit! If only I was alone...

Rem:
...I'm sorry.
It's because I'm here.
I'm sorry I'm so useless...

Tending to Subaru's wounds from the
fight against the nightmare, madness.

"I'm sorry if I'm slowing you down. You can
leave me. I'm not worth the danger."

"C'mon, don't say that. You're staying
right here with me. You are worth it."

"...I don't understand."

The young girl's blue eyes reflected no
hope in them.

It was then Subaru realized how horrible
a life she had led.

Arriving to the scene was a concerned Emilia.

"This the girl? Did you speak to her?"

"No. I don't think we view each other the same."

"I see. Then how about this..."

Emilia smiled at
the two of them.

Verse 4 - Alternate[]

"Thank goodness. Barusu got money
from Emilia and bought her from
her capture.

...The more I watch, the more she
resembles Rem when she younger.

Rem lacked self-confidence at that
age too."

"The poor girl... She thinks she's useless.
This world crushed her, robbing her of all
her self-respect.

Its like watching Rem grow up all over again.
It breaks my heart."

Verse 5[]

"How about you try living together
and get to know each other a while?
If she really is Rem, I'm sure she'll
trust you."

Following her suggestion, Emilia
arranged a room for the pair.

Compared to the room from his first
death, this one was much more luxurious
thanks to the vigilante's budget.

"She did say it was being funded...."

He hadn't a clue why Emilia was
collecting money.

For all he knew, it could have just been
the work of some really bad subordinates.

"Well, none of that really matters now."
Subaru smiled at the girl still frozen in place.

"Hey, let's go shopping!"

He recalled during his second loop, the girl
deliciously gobbling up sweet potatoes,
which happened, to be Rem's twin sister
Ram's specialty dish.

"If she brings up her sister, then
this has gotta be Rem!"

As Subaru muttered to himself, the girl
made a sudden stop.

In front of her was a street stall of
accessories.

"Pick whatever you want."

"But..."

"That's an order. I'll buy it for you."

Puzzled by the request, she took a long
look at the accessories before deciding on
a certain headband.

That headband was...

"Rem wore the same on--!"

A familiar alarm interrupted Subaru's
excitement.

Subaru:
It's dangerous here!
Go home!

Rem:
But I can't leave you...

Subaru:
I'll be fine! Today I've got the strength of a demon!

Rem:
A demon...?

Thanks to the help of the vigilantes, the
invading nightmare was eradicated from the scene.

"Man...There's no end to it. I already
need a vacation."

Subaru's comment triggered an outcry
amongst the other vigilantes.

"Tell me about it! We're hardly a match
for 'em, too!"

"We need a swordsman on board.
It would help balance out our leader's magic."

"Oh yeah! The other day I heard of a crazy
swordsman on the outskirts of the city!"

"You mean that red-haired
hero, right?"

"A heroic red-haired swordsman?"

The vigilante's talk reminded Subaru of
the knight from his previous world.

"Was he summoned here, too...?

Verse 5 - Alternate[]

"I understand where Barusu is coming from.
I want her to regain her memories, too.

But he can't just bring her into battle.
That's dangerous.

He doesn't know the first thing about
taking care of a child."

"She picked out the headband me and
Rem wear. Perhaps she really is Rem.

I need to know more...
And what's this talk of a red-headed hero?"

Verse 6[]

Leaving the others behind, Subaru darted
straight home, fearing the worst of
the girl he left behind.

"Please be okay, please be okay..."

Then without warning,
Subaru was attacked.

By the same gray eyed, silver haired beauty
who had slain him the first time.

It was no accident. It was a
hostile attack.

At this rate, there was no guarantee
she wouldn't attack the young girl with him.

Subaru took a shortcut through a back alley.
However, there he witnessed an attempted

mugging by a fellow vigilante.

"Boy oh boy. Now what would Mili think
if she knew about this?"

Thug:
Shut up! Stay out of my way!

Subaru:
Will do! Can't have Mili's reputation ruined here!

After punishing the vigilante,
Subaru finally made it back home.

However, not a single light was turned on.
He turned the doorknob fearing the worst.

Peering inside he saw her, sleeping
soundly in her bed.

Subaru gave a sigh of relief,
loud enough that it awakened her. She rubbed her eyes.

"Sorry, I fell asleep..."

"Ah, no! My bad for waking you up.

But, um, since you're up...

Do you have a twin sister by any
chance?"

The girl's blue eyes flickered at his question.

"The resemblance is too uncanny..."
But he never got his answer.

His fatigue had gotten the best of him.
and succumbed into a deep slumber.

Verse 6 - Alternate[]

"I guess Barusu sent her home alone to
keep her out of battle.

But was that really for the best?

Stop wasting time with the punk and
hurry home to see that she's safe."

"Oh good, she's safe. How else
could we confirm that she's Rem?

Being from the demon clan, Rem
Should have a horn... If only we
could get her to reveal that."

Part 4[]

Verse 1[]

It was midday. Staring at an accessory
vendor stood a blue-haired girl.

"...huh?"

It must have been Return by
Death again.

This time, from a different save point.

"You're kidding... But how?"
He suddenly remembered silver

hair
fluttering across his eyes before he lost
consciousness.

"It's her. If I don't stop her now,
I'll be running from her forever..."

His gaze towards the girl became stern.
If he's gone, what would happen to her?

"...Is this the one?"

"What?"

Subaru picked up the headband.

"How did you know?"

"Well...I'm your master! Of course I'd know!"

Subaru flashed a proud smile at her.
Her blue eyes widened in astonishment.

"Should be soon..."

Just as he said that, the city's sirensounded,
alerting the presence of another nightmare.

Subaru placed his palm on the now
frightened girl's head.

"Stay close to me!"

Catching sight of the vigilantes also on
the move, he picked up his weapon.

Subaru:
If that silver-haired lady can appear outta nowhere...
I've got an idea!

Subaru and the girl went to see Emilia.

He explained to her how the vigilantes
lacked the strength to fight nightmares.

Emilia agreed something more needed to
be done.

"There's talk of a silver-haired beauty
who has what it takes. I think we
should find her and get her to join."

No matter how in love with Emilia he was,
he couldn't mention his Return to Death ability.

It was a curse that must stay secret.

"And so, I already took the liberty of
making these recruitment posters here!"

"That was fast! Good thinking!"

With the leader's approval, the posters were
immediately spread throughout the city.

Verse 1 - Alternate[]

"That girl got Barusu to buy her the headband.
Hm...? Why does this feel like déjà vu?

"He's got a point. By how often this city is
attacked, they need stronger men in the vigilante.

That's the only way to take the beasts down.

Still we don't really know if that silver-haired
girl is really strong or not."

Verse 2[]

Hoping to avoid an encounter with the
silver-haired slayer,

Subaru and the girl were lingering at the
station when an urgent request had arrived.

"Leader! He's been spotted in
the suburbs!"

"He's finally shown himself..."

Emilia's expression tensed.

"Mili? Who's he?"

"You probably already know him. He's been inciting
the nightmares to attack ever since he showed up."

"Because..."

"...Wolgarm."

It was the mabeast from his previous world.

Recalling his skirmishes made Subaru's
hair stand on end.

Subaru:
Listen.
Stay close.

Rem:
Yes, Master.

Subaru:
It's a shock this guy's here though.
Oh! So that's how you figured it out!

Emilia:
Right. I thought it might be more than coincidence.

Subaru:
...Then we might even find "him" here as well!

In the end, the vigilantes were no
match for the powerful Wolgarm.

"If only we had better equipment and weapons.
I was trying to save money for that,
but some members misunderstood."

"So that's where the funding
came from..."

"...Wolgarm is a horrid creature from our world.

He doesn't belong here. And I just can't stand here
and see these people suffer for his actions."

"With that personality, no wonder your life's so tough.
But that's what makes you E.M.G!(Emilia Major Goddess)"

"Stop joking. You'll open your wounds."

"...I'm fine. I can handle myself."

Again he vowed to
those heavenly purple eyes.

It was during the battle with Wolgarm when a
young boy saw a poster recruiting
for the vigilante.

At his side was a knight's sword.
His hair a blazing red.

"This is...Heh. How like you."

On the poster were words written in
a language he recognized from his own
world.

After reading, he took his leave.

Verse 2 - Alternate[]

"A mabeast in the suburbs?
How could a mabeast exist here...?

Now I understand why Emilia feels
responsible."

"So Wolgarm is the target...
Who's that red-haired boy reading
Barusu's poster?

Ooh, if only I could see his face clearly!
If it is who I think it is... He'll have
the strength the vigilante needs!"

Verse 3[]

...He told me to stay close, so I did.

Stupid. I knew it was dangerous.
Yet I followed him anyway.

THe vigilante tried to protect me.
Andnow they're dead.

Master's badly hurt, too.

"Worthless!"

The cruel word rang in my ears.
Over and over again.

"C'mon, don't say that. You're staying
right here with me You are worth it."

...No, you're wrong. There's nothing
worthy about me.

The blue-haired girl clutched to the
headband her master had bought her.

"I wish I had never been born."

"Worthless beings...have no
place in this world.

It was a few eyewitness accounts that
had sent Subaru and the girl back home.

"...'Bout time you got here," Subaru spoke.

But before he could turn around to look,
a voice as cold as snow replied.

"I see. So it's you."

"Woah there! Wait! You got the
wrong guy!

You don't wanna kill an innocent man, do
you? That's a heavy burden to live with!"

"What are you saying?"

"Let's talk this over! Like why me?

Or is it only me you're after?

Is it...all of us
who came from another world?"

The woman's weapon sliced Subaru's cheek.

Subaru:
Let's stop this!
Stop and talk it over!

Snow White:
There's no point.

Subaru:
This lady's a berserker on full blast!

Snow White:
Give it up!

Subaru:
...Good. I bought enough time.

"You won't have to suffer longer."

Upon returning her weapon, Subaru collapsed
to the ground. A cold chill overcame his body.

Almost as if being buried in snow.

"...Can I say...one last thing?"

"Go on."

"You're late, Reinhard!"

Sensing a presence behind her, the
woman looked back.

Standing across from her stood a modest
boy with blue eyes and fiery red hair.

"I only got your message from the poster.
Thanks to the language you used."

The boy was the strongest knight alive,
otherwise known as Sword Saint.

"I'm Reinhard van Astrea!"

Verse 3 - Alternate[]

"That lady appeared at Barusu's house again.
Why is she still after him?

He must have done something to upset her."

"So Barusu's plan was to recruit the
Sword Saint Reinhard...

Impressive. Smart move on using our
own language to reveal himself.
Way to go, Barusu."

Verse 4[]

Reinhard and the woman's blades clashed.
However, not long after did she back away.

"It appears you're more skilled than I."

"Glad we could settling things without
making a mess."

The silver-haired beauty stared
blankly at Reinhard's grin.

"Are you too from another world?"

"Yep. The same as that guy over there."

"...Then there's more of you to
eliminate."

"So it is that! What did we do anyway?!

You can't just murder us on those terms!"

The woman let out a sigh of resignation
at Subaru's defense.

"...My name is Snow White."

"A being from another world is
wreaking havoc in this world. It's my duty
to eliminate its presence, but I have no idea
who the culprit may be."

"That explains why you killed me."

It was probably also why she apologized
the first time she killed Subaru.

"...But you're not dead."

Her grey eyes scrutinized Subaru
following his comment.

He whistled to cover up his slip of the tongue.

"I got it. So there's this mabeast from
our world here. Way worse than us.
First of all, can you help us defeat him?"

Snow White thought it over. After accepting
his offer, the city's alarm sounded.

Subaru:
Nothing can defeat us now.
We're an unstoppable team!

Snow White:
Let me remind you.
This is only temporary.
If the world still doesn't revert back after this...

Subaru:
I got it. It'll be back to butting heads again!
But less of me and more of Reinhard.

Reinhard:
I prefer not to be rough with women.

Now with Snow White on his side, Subaru lead
her and Reinhard to the vigilante station.

On the way, they ran into an
oddly distraught Emilia.

"Subaru! We got bad news! Wait, Reinhard?!
And who's this pretty silver-haired girl
with you?"

"Relax! First tell me what's going on."

"Right! We got trouble! That girl...

That Rem-girl is gone! When I came
back to the station, there was a letter!"

Emilia handed Subaru the letter.
Not a moment later, he dashed from the station.

"Subaru!"

Cold raindrops began to fall
from the grey clouds above.

Verse 4 - Alternate[]

"That lady, Snow White...

She said her objective is to eliminate
the foreign being disrupting this world.

...Wait. Could it be Wolgarm?"

"What do you mean that Rem
look-alike gone missing?

Go find her, Barusu!

I won't forgive you if
anything happens to her!"

Verse 5[]

"The rain won't stop..."

At the end of a dark alleyway,
the girl hugged her knees tightly.

The rain fell harder, drenching her
entire body. Clutching close to her chest
was her headband, protecting what
she could of it from the rain.

"...If only I was Rem."

Because she was useless, she couldn't
The girl muttered to herself.

I'm sorry. Your desire to protect me
will only cause you more pain.

This headband is more than enough.
Just then, a growl echoed from deep in
the darkness.

"Luck was never with me anyway."

By now she had given up. And with a soft
smile, she awaited death.

Wolgarm:
Grruuumble...

Rem:
No! Not my headband! Give it back!
Stop it! It's all I have!
It means everything to me!
Please, give it back!

Wolgarm:
Grruuumble...

Rem:
Give it back... Give it back,
Give it back!
Give it BAAAACK!!!

Someone dear..,
bought it for me...

Following the sound of a fight, Subaru
had finally reached the young girl's location,
only to find her body laying in a pool of blood.

Protruding from her head glowed a single
a single horn.

"I knew it.
You really were Rem."

The twin maids he knew, Ram and Rem,
were of the demon clan.

Subaru lifted the blood drenched Rem
and cupped her white cheek.

"You must have arrived here long before me.
So long, you forgot who you were.
All alone in this small body..."

A small breath escaped Rem's lips.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm late..."

The pouring rain had turned her body cold.
Except for one warm droplet that
rolled down her cheek.

Verse 6[]

Asleep in her bed, Rem lied peacefully.

The headband, now repaired, remained
clutched in her grasp.

"Thanks, Snow. I owe you one."

Subaru thanked Snow White who alternated
with Emilia in healing Rem's wounds.

"More importantly, I believe they're
ready."

Snow White's gaze looked outside,
where Emilia, the vigilante, and Reinhard
were waiting.

"Then let's go pay our respects."
Subaru rose a clenched fist.

"Wolgarm, it's payback time!"

And off they went, to battle
their greatest enemy.

Subaru:
Perfect! He took the bait!

Reinhard:
We start with the leader.
Then we take them all out!

Snow White:
...Hopefully this is the source of the problem.

Emilia:
Subaru, take it easy.

Subaru:
I've got this!
I've got the strength of a demon!

Wolgarm's defeat triggered the strange wall
surrounding the city began to fade away.

"That beast was the source of the anomaly."

There was a slight sense of relief in Snow
White's voice.

"Good thing, too. That makes us safe."

Subaru extended a hand to Snow White.
After a glance, she gently returned the gesture.

"I apologize for the trouble I caused."

"Nah, we're even. So, now what do we do?"

"That is up to you. This is nothing more
than a nightmare. If you truly desire
to return to your own world, you
should naturally by the next day."

Verse 6 - Alternate[]

"Now that Rem's safe, they can focus
their attention on Wolgarm.

With Snow White's help, the four of
them should be able to defeat him easily.
Go get him, Barusu."

"The world is reverting back to normal.
Which means, Wolgarm was the culprit!

Not sure how I feel about the least scene
with Emilia and Rem, but...

Forget it. What matters is that Barusu
did his best. Besides, it was a dream.

...Wasn't it

Ending Scene[]

Subaru:
Mili. How did I do?

Emilia:
You did great, Subaru.

Subaru:
In that case, this calls for a reward!
From the heroine herself!

Emilia:
Huh? Um sure, if you have an idea...

Subaru:
Great! Then...There is one thing.
Subaru smiled the biggest grin.

Subaru:
I want to go on a date with you in this world.
...With you and Rem.

Emilia:
Sure. It's a date then, Subaru.

END.

Parrah:
...It seems everything worked out okay.

Noya:
We really funked up their time lines. Like really bad.
I was worried for a second there.

Parrah:
I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Noya:
But Snow is lacking in the villain department.
Can't help she's so hung up on justice.

Parrah:
Our mistake.

Noya:
It's a different company's story anyway.

Parrah:
That's true.
If it were any crueler it'd only break our hearts.

Noya:
If we had any!

Parrah:
Keeheehee!
I think Subaru will suffer a lot more in the future than he did here.

Noya:
SINoALICE seems tame in comparison.

Parrah:
But that doesn't mean we can't go above and beyond.

Noya:
Yeah. We can get grittier and darker, and even more hopeless.

Parrah:
To the worst tale yet.
